Blog 4: Time is (the) key!

A five minute short story for children may just save the day!  

 

In classrooms teachers often have “settling” activities that they know will help their students focus, calm down, and change the atmosphere in a room. These kinds of classroom activities become increasingly important when dealing with a large class. Listening activities are often used in this way. Of course a teacher can stand in the middle or the room and repeat “listen to me” all they want, but what really “settles” a class is listening to something different, something with its own sound, story, and atmosphere. By playing an audio story you may be surprised by how quiet and attentive your class will become.

Many schools in the UK are using our collection “Women Who Changed The World” to introduce themes such as diversity and women’s rights.
